The External Advisory Board- Wisconsin MBA

Image
Decisions are part of our everyday life. Some decisions are made in seconds, while others last days or months. For me, a decision that took a while was where to attend Business School. I spoke with a lot of schools and after much research, I decided to apply to Wisconsin. Although there are many reasons why I chose Wisconsin, today I'd like to focus on the External Advisory Board.  "The A.C. Nielsen Center External Advisory Board is a highly involved group of senior level executives who serve as the voice of industry and help guide the development of program curriculum and networking for job opportunities... Each student is assigned two mentors within the external advisory board to assist in their career development." I recently attended my first External Advisory Board (EAB) meeting, and it was nothing short of amazing. These senior level executives are extremely involved and are eager to guide and help students as they seek internships and full-time career

Two Countries, Nine States

How did I get here? As I meet people, I am always interested in their story. Where did they come from? What hobbies do they enjoy? What is their family like? Where do they work? What do they like/dislike about their jobs? What's their fav. food? etc. Everyone has a story to tell, and I love to hear it. Lately, I have been contemplating my story. And how it is that I got to where I am today. Here a list of places I have lived: Mendoza, Argentina- 1989-2000 Queens, New York. 2000 Kearny, New Jersey. 2000-2001 Harrison, New Jersey. 2001-2003 Gilbert, Arizona. 2003-2008 Philadelphia Area, Pennsylvania. 2008-2010 Eden, Utah. 2010 Rexburg, Idaho. 2010-2013 Houston, Texas. 2013-2017 Madison, Wisconsin. 2017- present  Each of these places have had lasting memories, but the people I have met along the journey have made a tremendous impact in my life. I was inspired by a close friend and mentor, Mike Murray, to write short stories

The (illegal) American Dream

A few months after my family moved to the United States, our visas expired and I became undocumented. Although this didn’t affect me immediately (because of my young age), it became an issue when I wanted to obtain a driver’s license and employment, but couldn’t. I started to see things differently. A mentor of mine told me that being undocumented would present difficulties as I tried to attend college, pay for school, obtain employment, and achieve the so called "American Dream". Being undocumented allowed me to experience challenges that others might not see or encounter. For example, it prevented me from receiving financial aid in college. Although many US citizens also receive no financial aid, I wasn't even able to apply for a loan because of my status. I could apply for jobs, but not having a social security number made it difficult for employers to consider me, even if I was the best candidate. My circumstances taught me that if I really wanted something

#StabioAdventures- Road Trippin it!

What a week! It all started last week, on Wednesday Aug. 2. I was supposed to fly out to Philadelphia for an #MBA internship interview for next summer. Meanwhile, Catherine was getting ready to drive 13 hours to New Mexico to attend one of her friend's wedding- Brittany. As I was getting ready to leave, our house was a mess. (We are moving in a week, and our house is full of empty boxes- ready to be filled so we can move to Wisconsin). As I get to the airport, my flight was delayed. After a little while, it was delayed again. I felt bad knowing that I was just sitting at the airport while Catherine was getting ready for the longest road trip she would drive by herself (Kids would be on the backseat of course). I walked up to the help desk and ask if I could take a flight the next day as everything kept being pushed to later and later. I did! Took an Uber home and Catherine was shocked... "Here to help!" I said. "What do you need?". I took the kids to t
